"Very Knowledgable and personable! William made a seemingly difficult transition easy and seamless. I appreciated his unbiased opinion and personalized what was best for me. He took great care in listening to my concerns. I never felt rushed and felt he took a personal interest in assisting me to make the best choice. Not one of those "Big box" sales as seen on TV. Highly recommend William."

Medicare Doesn't Have to Be This Confusing
Most people spend hours trying to figure out Medicare on their own. There's a better way.
The noise you're dealing with:
- ✕Confusing TV ads pushing one plan over another
- ✕Call centers that sell your information to multiple agents
- ✕Agents who only represent a single insurance company
- ✕Pressure to enroll before you understand your options
- ✕Jargon-heavy plan documents that are impossible to compare
- ✕No one to call when you have questions after enrollment

Medicare Supplement Insurance
Medigap Plans: Plan G, Plan N & High-Deductible G
Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans fill the gaps left by Original Medicare — covering copays, coinsurance, and deductibles so you know exactly what you'll pay.
Plan G
Most PopularCovers nearly everything Original Medicare doesn't — including the Part A deductible, skilled nursing coinsurance, and foreign travel emergency. You only pay the Part B deductible ($240/year in 2024).
Best for: People who want predictable, low out-of-pocket costs and freedom to see any Medicare-accepting doctor nationwide.
Plan N
Lower PremiumSimilar to Plan G but with small copays ($20 office visits, $50 ER visits) and no coverage for Part B excess charges. Premiums are typically 15–25% lower than Plan G.
Best for: Healthy beneficiaries who want lower monthly premiums and don't mind occasional small copays.
High-Deductible Plan G
Lowest PremiumSame benefits as Plan G after you meet the annual deductible ($2,800 in 2024). Premiums can be 50–60% lower than standard Plan G — ideal for those who rarely use healthcare.
Best for: Healthy beneficiaries who want catastrophic protection at the lowest possible monthly cost.
Who Should Compare Medigap Plans?
- Turning 65 and enrolling in Medicare for the first time
- Losing employer or union health coverage
- Currently on Medicare Advantage and considering switching
- Tired of unpredictable out-of-pocket costs
- Traveling frequently or spending time in multiple states
- Want to keep your current doctors without network restrictions
Medicare Part C
Medicare Advantage Plans in Florida
Medicare Advantage (Part C) bundles your Original Medicare benefits into a single plan — often with $0 premiums, dental, vision, hearing, and prescription drug coverage included.
How Medicare Advantage Works
- Replaces Original Medicare Parts A & B
- Administered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare
- Must include all Original Medicare benefits
- Often includes Part D drug coverage (MAPD plans)
- May include dental, vision, hearing, and fitness benefits
- Typically requires using a network of doctors and hospitals
Who Benefits Most from MA Plans
- Beneficiaries who want $0 or low monthly premiums
- Those who prefer an all-in-one plan (medical + Rx + extras)
- People who are comfortable with a provider network
- Beneficiaries who use their extra benefits (dental, vision, OTC)
- Those in good health who rarely need specialist care
- People who want a predictable annual out-of-pocket maximum
MA vs. Medigap — Which Is Right for You?
There's no universal answer. Medicare Advantage plans often have lower premiums but require network usage and can have higher out-of-pocket costs when you need significant care. Medigap plans have higher premiums but give you freedom to see any Medicare-accepting provider nationwide with predictable costs. As an independent broker, I'll help you compare both options based on your specific doctors, prescriptions, and budget.

Turning 65? Here's What You Need to Know
Your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) is a 7-month window around your 65th birthday. Missing it can mean permanent premium penalties and coverage gaps.
Your 7-Month Enrollment Window
3 months before
Your 65th birthday month — earliest you can enroll
Your birthday month
Coverage starts the 1st of your birthday month
3 months after
Last chance — coverage may be delayed 1–3 months
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- ✕Assuming employer coverage automatically transitions to Medicare
- ✕Missing the IEP and facing lifetime Part B premium penalties
- ✕Enrolling in Part B late and losing Medigap guaranteed issue rights
- ✕Choosing a plan based on premium alone without checking your doctors
- ✕Not comparing Part D drug plans — costs vary widely by medication
- ✕Waiting until you're sick to review your coverage options

Relocation & Medicare
Moving to Florida? Your Medicare May Need to Change
Relocating to Florida triggers a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) that lets you change your Medicare coverage — even outside the Annual Enrollment Period.
Special Enrollment Period (SEP)
Moving to a new service area triggers a 2-month SEP. You can switch Medicare Advantage plans, drop MA and return to Original Medicare, or enroll in a new Part D plan.
Medicare Supplement Considerations
Medigap plans are standardized and work nationwide — your Plan G from Ohio works in Florida. However, you may find better rates by shopping Florida-specific carriers after your move.
Florida Service Areas
William serves all 67 Florida counties and is licensed in 12 states. Whether you're moving from Georgia, Ohio, or anywhere else, he can help you compare your new Florida options.
Medicare Premium Surcharge
IRMAA: The Medicare Surcharge High-Income Beneficiaries Pay
If your income exceeds certain thresholds, you'll pay more for Medicare Part B and Part D. Understanding IRMAA helps you plan — and potentially appeal.
What Is IRMAA?
IRMAA (Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount) is a surcharge added to your Medicare Part B and Part D premiums if your income exceeds certain thresholds.
2024 IRMAA Thresholds
For 2024, IRMAA applies if your 2022 MAGI exceeded $103,000 (individual) or $206,000 (joint). Surcharges range from $69.90 to $419.30/month for Part B.
IRMAA & Part D
IRMAA also adds a surcharge to your Part D drug plan premium — ranging from $12.90 to $81.00/month depending on your income bracket.
How to Appeal IRMAA
If your income has decreased due to a life-changing event (retirement, divorce, death of spouse), you can appeal your IRMAA determination using SSA Form SSA-44.
IRMAA & Medigap Planning
High-income beneficiaries paying IRMAA often benefit most from Medigap plans — predictable costs help offset the already-elevated premium burden.
IRMAA Resources
William can walk you through your IRMAA situation, help you understand your options, and refer you to a tax advisor if a Roth conversion strategy makes sense.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the questions we hear most often.
What is the difference between Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage?
Medicare Supplement (Medigap) works alongside Original Medicare to cover your out-of-pocket costs — you can see any Medicare-accepting doctor nationwide. Medicare Advantage replaces Original Medicare with a private plan that often has lower premiums but requires using a network. The right choice depends on your doctors, prescriptions, and how much you travel.
How much does it cost to work with William?
Nothing. My services are completely free to you. I'm compensated by the insurance companies when you enroll in a plan — you pay the same premium whether you use a broker or go direct. There's no markup, no fee, and no obligation.
When can I enroll in Medicare?
Your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) is a 7-month window — 3 months before your 65th birthday month, your birthday month, and 3 months after. Missing this window can result in permanent premium penalties. If you have employer coverage, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period when that coverage ends.
Can I keep my current doctors?
With a Medicare Supplement plan, you can see any doctor or specialist nationwide who accepts Medicare — no referrals, no network restrictions. With Medicare Advantage, you'll need to use the plan's network. Before enrolling in any plan, I'll verify that your preferred doctors are covered.
What is IRMAA and do I have to pay it?
IRMAA is an income-related surcharge added to your Medicare Part B and Part D premiums if your income exceeds certain thresholds. For 2024, it applies if your 2022 income exceeded $103,000 (individual) or $206,000 (joint). If your income has recently decreased, you may be able to appeal.
